Multiple building services disciplines needed to share tight physical space without conflicting, while still giving site teams installation information they could rely on.

The challenge

  • Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire services needed to be coordinated within limited ceiling and riser space.
  • Shop drawings needed to reflect real, buildable conditions, not just design intent.
  • Coordination issues needed to be caught before installation, while they were still cheap to resolve.

Our approach

  • Modelled MEPF systems in a coordinated BIM environment reflecting actual site constraints.
  • Ran clash detection across disciplines before issuing shop drawings.
  • Produced shop drawings and construction documentation from the coordinated model.
  • Worked with the project team to resolve conflicts as they were identified, not after install.
